Order Only - Sundays
Sep. 14th, 2014 10:39 amI don't like them. Just when you've finished catching up on homework and other tasks and are ready to relax, you realise it's about to start all over again. And I don't mean to complain but it's even worse being Head Girl. It's impossible to just hide out and be alone, you're always needed for one thing or another.
So I propose that every Sunday, in the hours before and after supper, we ought to use the Hidden Room as a locale to gather and relax and do something enjoyable before the grueling week starts up again. Everyone can just drop by when they have a moment, so that it doesn't appear as if we're all disappearing en masse at the same time every week.
I think it would be a good reminder for me that we're all together in this, too, even if we're not all as close with each other as we might be. Forgive me for saying so, but as a newcomer I've noticed that there are some well-established cliques among this group. Its been a little disappointing, to be honest. I expected that a group of people who are all more or less willing to die together (though not at all eager for it!) wouldn't be so prone to clustering off in ways that mimic the school population at large. Maybe private journal messages are the refuge where you can all truly bond and express yourselves, which I'm sure is marvellous, but half the time I can't help but wonder if I'm missing something important, something that one of you might be struggling with or going through. And if you don't want it to be anyone's business but your very closest friends that's fine, and I understand, but perhaps you might give some thought to opening up to others?
Because there are some days that "The Order" feels to me like a group of loosely affiliated people who are signed up for the same super-secret journal messaging lock, and less like an organisation with a common goal, who cares about each of its members' unique position and needs.
But maybe if we can just meet up from time to time without the pressure of our established social roles within the school, that would be a good starting place!
Now does anyone know just how well the Hidden Room works? If I really want to have tarts from Fleet's Bakery for tonight's gathering, will the Room provide them? Is it really that specific? I suppose I could just get some tarts from the kitchen elves, but those aren't nearly so nice.

Date: 2014-09-14 06:57 pm (UTC)I've leftover pastries from last night (from both my favourite bakery, the Archetype, and Mum's baking.) If you'd like to come by, I'll be in my rooms until supper, and could let you have your pick.

Date: 2014-09-14 08:56 pm (UTC)I wasn't making an accusation, simply sharing an observation. No one need change the way they use their journals if they don't want to, certainly.
I'm glad that you'll be joining us, though.

I mean, very clever if you told it not to let me in.

Date: 2014-09-14 09:02 pm (UTC)I say, I'm having trouble, too. Apologies, Daphne, but if I don't come across it jolly well soon, what, I may have to skive off this time. I've a bally old tonne of reading for Professor Dolohov.

So you're going to order in from Fleet's next week?
I'll be there.
Say, I'm sorry about using the lock for private messages so much, but with Mum and all my brothers and Gin on here, it's just... lots of the time I don't want them seeing what I've said. I mean, if Queenie and Astoria were in the Order (yeah, I know, just go with the hypothetical, though, for a minute)--if they were able to read the lock, I bet you'd put more behind a PM, too.
But I take your point. We invited you in and now all you see are a bunch more PMs when you read the journals. That's rude of us. I'll try to do better.
